Common Mistakes
Mistake Correction Explanation
I be happy. I was happy. For the past simple, use 'was' or 'were', not 'be'.
They not were happy. They weren't happy. The negative contraction for 'were not' is 'weren't'.
Was you there? Were you there? Use 'were' with the subject 'you' in the past simple.
It did be good. It was good. The past simple of 'to be' does not use 'do' or 'did'.
